What are some best load testing tools for web application?  Manily looking to measure performance and load stress capacity to make sure app will perform in peak traffic and extreme stress conditions.  Something that is easy to use without costing too much.

Hi!

I will suggest you some of the best load testing tools that are available in the market. Performance testing is very pivotal in the process of testing any web application. Once all the bugs have been fixed and the application is ready to launch, it is tested for performance. Your web application should be able to withstand the peak traffic it encounters. Here are some of the load testing tools that will help you with it.

Apache JMeter

JMeter is one of the best load testing tools we have in the market. It is an open source Java application and works on both static as well as Web Dynamic applications.
JMeter works on a protocol level and supports various protocols such as

1.Web - HTTP/ HTTPS (Java, PHP, NodeJS, ASP.NET among others)
2.TCP
3.FTP
4.SOAP / REST Web services
5.Database
6.LDAP
7.Mail related protocols - SMTP(S), POP3(S) and IMAP(S)
8.Java Objects

Apache JMeter was initially defined to test the load of web applications but it has evolved to expand its horizons to other applications as well.

HPE LoadRunner

The HPE LoadRunner software, formerly a part of Hewlett Packard Enterprise Software is now part of Micro Focus. The latest version of LoadRunner, v12.53 has many new exciting features. Some of the main features of HPE LoadRunner are listed below.

Cloud Testing- Through cloud testing, you can test your web applications from any location around the world. Cloud Testing also increases scalability with the help of which you can easily simulate the traffic incident on your system and test the application accordingly.

Network Virtualization- Network Virtualization is another key feature of HPE LoadRunner. It helps you simulate not only the users but different network conditions that you may encounter. You can even capture your network's present condition and simulate the testing accordingly.

User Interface- HPE LoadRunner has a very presentable and user-friendly interface. You can get started with HPE LoadRunner very easily without any hassles.

Reporting and Analysis- HPE LoadRunner provides real-time monitoring and analysis which helps you analyze your network conditions and the traffic you encounter at different hours.

Gatling

Gatling is one of the best open source load testing software available to us. The latest version of Gatling is version 2.3. It provides solutions that help us to rectify performance issues and increase our productivity. It gives you the freedom to script the testing scenarios as per your application and automate the tests.
Gatling has developed their own user-friendly Domain Specific Language (DSL) so that the users can create their scenarios and understand it easily.
With Gatling you can:

- Simulate the number of users in compliance with your web application.

- Analyze and monitor the response times of your application.

- Create a report based on the application's behaviour that is easy to contemplate.

WebLoad

It is another versatile testing tool used for performance testing and enhancement of your web application. The Radview WebLoad is available in both free as well as paid versions. WebLoad can perform load testing on various applications using platforms such as .NET, Oracle Forms, HTML5 among many others. WebLoad can simulate traffic and monitor the behaviour of your application. Some of the features that are incorporated in WebLoad are-

Dynatrace Root Cause Analysis- It helps you analyze the performance bottlenecks at the root level. The integration of WebLoad with Dynatrace has made it very effective in analyzing and reporting performance issues.

Affordable Price- As already mentioned, the WebLoad comes in a paid as well as free version. You can choose your version as per your requirement. It is cheaper than most products in the market.

Continuous Integration (CI) Performance Testing- With automated performance testing, WebLoad ensures an efficient testing process and save you time and efforts in testing as well as deployment.
