Online providers are pushing Kubernetes and wondering if Kubernetes is the ideal solution when developing a small application that will run on 5-10 servers.

Kubernetes has gained a lot of popularity in recent years because it offers a future proof solution because of its capability to support large, distributed systems. So, even if your user base grows to a vast audience, Kubernetes can handle it well. That is the reason why most of the cloud solution providers are encouraging businesses (small or medium) as they are offering out-of-the-box solutions for it. Kubernetes also ensures reliability for your application by allowing you to have updates to change your software without downtime.
There are endless possibilities and benefits of using Kubernetes; however, there are a few complexities in implementing and adapting to this technology. Kubernetes is a complex but powerful technology specially designed to run software that is of massive scare in cloud environment effortlessly. This means if your application isn't vast or complex made for a large number audience (e.g., worldwide e-commerce business with thousands of customers across the globe), or with high computing needs (e.g., data mining, machine learning, etc.), you will not benefit from implementing Kubernetes. Kubernetes is known for its complexity, especially for developers who are not familiar with infrastructure technologies. This can lead to high cost and time by educating your engineers to get used to the Kubernetes development workflow.

So, you must assess your options against your business to find the right technology that will suit you. Kubernetes can get overwhelming if the size of your project is relatively small.
