I have narrowed down OS for desktop linux and they are Ubuntu and Mint.  However, I am really struggling to decide between Ubuntu and Mint.  Which one is recommended by you guys?

There isn't much difference between Linux Mint and Ubuntu and apart from the desktop environment and default applications, there isn't really a difference.
While many arguments can be made for using Linux Mint and not Ubuntu, there are counter-arguments for the opposite installation.

Ubuntu is the more well-known of the two distros. More Ubuntu-related web content exists due to the size of its community, which is a big help when you’re starting off. But much of what applies to Ubuntu also applies to Mint.
