When it comes to linux distros, which one is recommended for enterprise use?  Centos, Ubuntu, Debian, FreeBSD etc.

Over the years, a lot has changed drastically to an extent where Linux is the preferred OS when it comes to powering servers, mainframe computers as well as supercomputers in data centers around the world. Linux is open-source and free, which gives you a lot of benefits like low total cost of ownership, general freedom associated with it, stability and security among others.

Many options of Linux are now available specially designed to give better user experience and greater performance like data center capabilities and reliability in relation to supported functionalities and hardware, ease of installation and use, cost of ownership in terms of licensing and maintenance, and accessibility of commercial support.

Today, CentOS is most common Linux distro that is widely used for enterprises and commercial purposes. What makes CentOS attractive is that every version serves for over 10 years, which is something you won't find with other distributions. CentOS harnesses the open-source components of its parent OS, which actually make up the majority of RHEL(Red Hat Enterprise Linux). CentOS is packed with very fewer features than you might know compared to other distributions. However, this works out in favor of CentOS because this makes it relatively lightweight. If you're simply looking for a lightweight distribution to host a game, CentOS is a great choice. Most of the users prefer CentOS compared to other Linux Distro is because of the number of available online communities. This becomes a huge help for those who are new at the Linux environment and are setting up a server on their own.
