    sObject - CrossFTP Guide

    Publisher: Psychz Networks May 22,2024

    CrossFTP is a versatile FTP client software that offers a user-friendly interface for managing file transfers. It supports various protocols, including FTP, SFTP, FTPS, WebDAV, Amazon S3, Google Storage, and more. The key features of CrossFTP include batch transfer, multi-threaded transfer, archive browsing, and synchronization capabilities. Two different authentication approaches are available to connect to Psychz sObject: access key-based and Oauth2-based. In this article, we will use the Access Key-based approach.

    It's crucial to have access to a Windows workstation and your sObject Storage credentials, which you'll obtain when you deploy sObject from your Psychz Dashboard.

    Example values

    access_key = 1234567dfg3456dfgh4567dfg234ghjk
    secret_key = 345dfg78FGH67fg%^&vbn^&vfghj4567
    S3 URL = http://this.is.dummy.url.com/

    Step 1: Download and Install CrossFTP

    1. Access the CrossFTP Website
      • On your Windows workstation, open a web browser and navigate to https://www.crossftp.com/download.htm.
    2. Download and install the Software
      • Once on the homepage, locate and click the "Windows Download" button.
      • After the download is complete, open the installer file. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the CrossFTP on your workstation.

    Step 2: Launch CrossFTP

    After installation, you can launch CrossFTP by finding it in your Start menu or by double-clicking its desktop icon.

    Step 3: Add a New Site

    1. Navigate to New Site:
      • In the CrossFTP interface, locate the "Site" from the menu bar and select "Site Manager," or press F9.
      • Click the "New Site" button to enter the session details.
    2. Enter Session Details:
      • Under Label, enter the name you wish to assign to the connection.
      • From the "Protocol" dropdown, choose "S3/HTTPS". This setting allows CrossFTP to connect to our sObject storage service.
    3. Enter Host Name and Port:
      • In the "Host Name" field, enter the URL provided by Psychz for their sObject service.
      • Use Port 443 to connect to the device.
    4. Enter Access Key ID and Secret Access Key:
      • Enter your Access Key ID. This unique identifier for your account is shared with you when you create sObject.
      • Enter your Secret Access Key. This acts as a password for your Access Key ID and is also shared with your Access Key ID at the time of sObject creation.

    Click the "Apply" followed by the "Connect" button to connect to your object storage. CrossFTP will then attempt to connect to Psychz's sObject using the provided credentials.
