  • Which dedicated server to use for API? (Hardware Recommendation)

Posted By: Mike | 1 Replies | Last Reply On: Jan 28, 2019 04:54:24

Is anyone able to recommend server specs to use for an api server?  Will CPU/disk space play a big role?

What about migration?  What if need to scale and move to another server?

There is no minimum hardware requirement for an API server because the specs usually change due to many factors that should go into the account.

It is very important for us to understand before we recommend ideal dedicated server specs and for the same you may need to answer following questions

  • The volume of traffic (High or low)
  • Number of visitors per day/month
  • Maximum number of concurrent visitors
  • Size of the database
  • Number of search queries

On small instances, server load is primarily driven by peak visitors, so minimum system requirements are difficult to judge. However, we can provide you with an ideal server configuration to host a basic API server.

Here is our hardware recommendation:

CPU: E3-1230 V3
RAM - 8GB or 16GB
Hard Drive - 512GB SSD / 1TB HDD
Port speed - 10GBPS Port

You can use the following link to explore a wide range of hardware available from the live inventory of our various Data Center facilities. https://www.psychz.net/dashboard/client/web/order/dedicated-server?processor=&processorBaseFreq=&numberOfCpu=7391&cpuCores=&location=

The answer to your next question is yes. The disc space and processor will play an important role as hardware in your API server. The API server will act as a host and largely respond to the data that is being requested by the connected client. The processor will handle multiple/concurrent clients connected at any given time whereas the disc will constantly be used to fetch the desired data. Hence, using an SSD hard drive will give you a better result compared to a regular SATA drive.

Once you have decided what server type and configuration you want to go for, our technical support team can guide you with the migration process and ensure that all your existing data is in place and properly functioning on your new device. Not just that, if your technological demand increases and you want to scale up your server, our remote hands team will ensure to upgrade your device RAM, Processor, or even a hard drive with a minimum of downtime.

You can write to our sales team with your requirement and they will be more than glad to suggest you the right thing that meets your budget and requirement. Please write to sales@psychz.net
