cVirtual Rescue

Publisher: Psychz Networks,  October 01,2024

What is Rescue Mode?

The rescue feature helps you access and troubleshoot your virtual machine (instance) when it's otherwise inaccessible due to boot failures, connectivity issues, or corrupted configurations.

Purpose

The rescue feature is used to diagnose and fix issues that prevent an instance from functioning properly, ensuring minimal downtime and data loss.

Access cVirtual Device

  • Click the 'Compute' tab from the navigation bar on the left and select the 'cVirtual' tab.
  • Search for the device you want to rescue from the list.
  • Click the 'eye' icon next to the device.
  • Click the 'Rescue' button to access the feature.

Initiate Rescue Mode

  • Image: Choose from the available OS options to load on your virtual machine.
  • Password: Select a strong password between 12-50 characters.
  • Confirm Password: Re-enter the same password to proceed.

Once your machine successfully loads a new OS image, it is in rescue mode. You can now use SSH to access the virtual machine and perform diagnostics.

Unrescue

The unrescue feature is used to return an instance to its normal state after it has been in rescue mode.

  • Click the 'Unrescue' button to restore your virtual machine to its original state.

Note: You can view the log reports at the bottom of the page to see when your Virtual Machine was put in rescue mode and when it was unrescued.
