What measures can i take on my end to stop a DDoS attack?  Can i stop it with a firewall on my server?

DDoS or Dedicated Denial of Sevice attacks focuses on sabotaging a server process by sending huge amounts of garbage data through thousands or millions of computers from all around the globe in the form of bots. If the attack is small in magnitude (which is hardly the case!) the firewall can be used to stop the incidence of data. But for an attack of large magnitude, a number of precautionary measures have to be taken to mitigate these attacks. Also, it is sometimes hard to identify the dirty traffic from the legitimate traffic. A firewall simply will stop the incoming data altogether. There are a lot of software tools available in the market with which you can identify the types of attacks, monitor your data round the clock and also mitigate the attacks depending on its type and magnitude.

Please refer to our article on "How to stop DDoS attacks" to view all the advanced tools and techniques available in the market to mitigate and monitor these attacks.
