  • Is CSF good enough for DDoS Protection?

Posted By: Michael | 1 Replies | Last Reply On: Feb 01, 2019 05:23:23

I have a dedicated server with you guys and wondering if CSF is enough to handle a DDoS attack on my server and protect me against large attacks.

CSF (ConfigServer Firewall) can be used for basic DoS/DDoS Mitigation.

CSF is a firewall configuration script created to provide better security for your server while giving you an easy to use, an advanced interface for managing your firewall settings. You can easily manage the CSF application from inside cPanel/WHM.
The CSF configures your server’s firewall to lock down public access to services and only allow certain connections, such as logging in to FTP or loading your websites.

Having said that, you must also know that CSF is effective only against small attacks. Also, you may need to add measures into CSF only while the server is under attack.  CSF is not the only way to mitigate small-scale attacks and for maximum protection against large attacks (millions of incoming packets per second),  you need a specialized DDoS mitigation service.

Apparently, Psychz Networks offers one of the best DDoS protection services in the Industry hence you need not worry about the DDoS attacks.

We have scrubbing facility at all our POPs spread across the globe at 11 locations. This allows our system to mitigate larger attacks when they reach our network.  Although we have the capacity of 200gbps in specific POP our peering level may have limited peering arrangements which may cause packet loss, re-transmissions, and latency issues when their peering arrangements are beyond their capacity. Therefore, to deal with larger attack size, with anycast DDoS systems we direct the bad traffic to multiple locations for scrubbing. This way a much larger attack is easily dealt with using "Divide and Conquer" rule.

If you are only looking for Layer 7 DDoS protection, you can choose our CDN (Content Delivery Network) service which will not only optimize your website but will protect browser-based traffic such as on port 80 and port 443 (SSL).

Our CDN is equipped with security features that offer the best protection to your content and website from hacks, bots, DDoS attacks, malware.
